Your health of hair consists of your hair scalp, hair strands and overall hair area. Who doesn’t want to have a luscious healthy shiny perfect hair? Either straight or wavy or curly! All hairs are beautiful in their own way. What we all want is the best hair and its perfection. But do we work for having this?
If we start from the very beginning of this hair care, we can include a bunch of products and also some DIYs. There will be shampoo, conditioners, deep conditioners, hair masks, hair packs, different types of oils, hair gels, hair dyes and even natural hair sprays indeed. These are some products you can apply on your hair and scalp on a scheduled basis. Besides, we need some care along with the product. These results are far better than using only products.
Oil provides nutrients, vitamins, and essential fatty acids that not only enhance your roots but also improve your hair’s overall health. Using warm, natural oil in your hair will help your scalp, hair, and texture, as well as boost your overall hair health. It will increase the blood circulation underneath the scalp and so induce hair growth.
Applying oil is perhaps one of the oldest methods we learnt by our seniors (moms, aunts and granny!). Use oil which suits your hair and scalp. You can use coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, castor oil or even mixed seeds oil. Different organic hair oil with various useful ingredients (hibiscus, onion, gooseberry, basil, fenugreek, etc.) are also available in the market.
Shampoo Once or Twice a Week
Most of the shampoo consists of sulfates which are too harsh to use regularly. We all have seen our friends who wash their hair daily or on the alternate day with shampoo. This is not a healthy way. Sulfate makes your hair super clean and also removes your scalp’s natural oil.
So, try avoiding the sulfate shampoos. Or if you use it, you have to make sure once or twice a week. You can use mind shampoos instead or some DIY scalp cleaning masks at home (Soapnut is a natural cleansing item).
Conditioners
Shampoo cleanses our all dirt. So, hair may become dry and dehydrated. Conditioner works as a hydrator, smoothening product, shine booster and frizz tamer as well. It makes your hair manageable for a limited period. But most of the conditioner consists of silicone – it created an extra layer of shine; after washing it goes away.
In research, it is found that silicones damages hair in the long run. So, if possible, avoid silicone-based conditioner. You can also try DIY conditioners at home by using raw aloe vera gel or coconut milk with a bit of oils in it and etc.
Drying Your Hair
Well, this is not about any product. This is all about some methods we do harm our hair. We should not use any heat without heat protectant serum or spray. Heat causes serious damage to hair.
The blow drying, straightening, curling up with a machine can cause damage. You can use a diffuser to dry your hair or simply air dry it. Microfiber towel sucks the moisture of hair. So, tie your hair with cotton cloth after the shower.
Deep Conditioner Is a Must
Applying deep conditioner means giving food to hair and scalp. We need moisture as well as a good treatment for our hair. We have a ton of options for this available on the market. But if it comes to DIY, I prefer it. Here they are-
Mustard oil, egg, and curd: If you have dry hair, this is the solution to your problems. Vitamins A, B12, D, and E, as well as fatty acids and protein, are abundant in eggs. The protein helps to stabilize the roots, the fatty acids help to condition the hair, and the B12 helps to add thickness and more volume on hair.
Tapioca pearl: boiling the tapioca pearl in water and then using the water after sieving. The water gives you a moisture explosion in your hair. Rice water rinse: Rice water is an ancient but extremely simple Chinese treatment. Proteins, which are important for cell health, account for around 16% of others.
Triglycerides & lipids account for 10% of the rice water’s composition, while starch accounts for 9%. Rice water also contains carbohydrates, inositol, phytic acid, as well as inorganic compounds. When you boil a regular handful of white rice in two cups of hot water and drain out the liquid, you get these beneficial compounds. To avoid hair loss and greying, a final rinse with rice water must be used.
Choose Carefully Your Styling Product
We use hair gels, hair serums, hair sprays as well for our styling and frizz taming, of course. Most of these contain a lot of chemicals. Check before buying or choose organic ones. If you are a DIY lover, then you know about flaxseed gel and sugar hair spray. Wash your hair before going to bed, otherwise the styling products can cause damage to your hair.
Follow Proper Diet
Drink plenty of water and stick to a raw fruit and vegetable-based diet. A balanced diet is the most important home remedy for hair care and treatment as well. What you put into your stomach will show on the outside. Therefore, you are what you eat. Eating habit is the first step in hair care although iron and protein are the two most essential nutrients in your diets.
Have iron-rich foods in your diet, such as leafy vegetables, fish, various beans, chickpeas, and cereals. The doctors recommend that you eat 12 mg of iron a day. Protein is also essential because it helps to strengthen your hair. Cheese, milk, lentils, peas, and yogurt are examples of full proteins that are also high in amino acids.
Moreover, you can choose product according to your hair needs. For example, if you face dandruff, squeeze a lemon or treat with apple cider vinegar. If you face hair fall, find the reason. If you lose 100 hairs daily, that’s normal. Consult with your doctor if you see any hair or scalp problems. Trim your hair can also induce hair growth and keep your hair healthy.
Don’t create a lot of pressures on your hair. Breakage of hair occurs when you tie them tight. Let them breathe. Comb your hair generously. If you are a curly-haired girl, try to follow the curly girl method (CGM) and avoid combing dry hair to maintain your curl pattern. Research on a search engine about your products. Drink a lot of water, maintain cleanliness and hair health properly.
